I Struggled to Create a Reading Habit Almost All My Life. A Simple Science Hack That Made It All Possible.
It’s easier than you think.
I kept the book on the table.
Another failed attempt to read. I read two pages, learned something, and felt this was enough for today.
There was no focus. But there was disappointment.
Why?
Because I committed to myself the day before that I was going to read for 20 minutes every day in the morning.
There was disappointment in not completing that promise.
But it wasn’t my fault. There was no motivation. So, how could I continue reading?
Let’s understand “Motivation” for a minute —
Motivation isn’t trustworthy but it gets the job done.
To do any work, you need motivation. Motivation basically means your brain should release dopamine to get excited to do the work.
Whatever we do, there is dopamine released in our brain that makes us do the thing.
When you are watching Netflix, or scrolling social media the level of dopamine is high. And when you are doing chores, it’s low (unless you like doing chores). But…
