Thinking about what you said to a friend, second-guessing your decisions, and imagining the worst-case scenarios every time in life can be exhausting.

Overthinking is a hard habit to break and even more complicated when you don’t realize you are going into a spiral of thoughts.

The longer you think about something, the more power and control it has over you. It takes away your time and energy to take any productive action.

But, before you put an end to overthinking, you need to recognize when you’re doing it.

1. Mental Chatter

Mental chatter is when you feel your brain won’t shut off.

It is almost impossible to stop your inner voice. But, this becomes a problem when you start thinking about something toxic, and it is making you anxious.

You feel stuck in a loop, and you keep running over the same things.

Change the channel — Make yourself busy with some activity to change the track of your thoughts and stop your unhealthy spiral of thoughts.
